Walls are a canvas to Decorare’s art

Decorator Tim Finch has built a business based on his philosophy that decorating is an art. Steve Dale visits a recent job by this Haddenham based business.

I’m in a stunning home that’s being beautifully painted and wallpapered. The Decorare team are doing a first class redecoration.

“Decorare is his business and decorating is his passion”, so says owner and decorator Tim Finch.

Tim believes decorating is an art and he insists that everyone who works with him feels the same way.

Tim is rightly proud of the work Decorare has been doing since he started the business in 2000.

Providing an excellent service that can include painting, staining, repairing woodwork or hanging wallpaper. The overriding aim is to leave their customers delighted.

“It makes no difference whether we are decorating somebody’s home, office, renovation or indeed, a National Trust property, we maintain our high standards wherever we work,” says Tim.

“Our commitment to our customer, is that we will provide the highest possible quality finish, within the time scales agreed, at a price that reflects excellent value for money. We always communicate with our customers from start to finish, keeping them in touch with how the job is progressing.

By the very nature of the work, customers are inviting strangers into their home. You need to be able to trust in Decorare’s staff and their professionalism. They are integral to the business

“I personally choose every member of the Decorare team. I need you to trust my people and that means I need to know what makes them tick.” says Tim.

Decorare value time-served experience alongside formally qualified decorators. “The skills and commitment of the people, are ultimately what I look for. We also take apprentices and sponsor them through college to attain their formal qualifications. We are members of the Construction Industry Training Board and the Oxfordshire Construction Training Group who assist us in delivering our annual training plans.” adds Tim.

Once Tim has chosen a new member he ensures that they are properly trained in all aspects of their responsibilities. Each employee has passed the fundamental tests in how to create a safe working environment for themselves, other site workers and their customers. “I want our customers to feel that whilst my team are at their property they are approachable and act in a thoroughly safe and professional manner.” says Tim.

Decorare currently have 11 members in their team. Tim is very much a ‘hands on’ owner. He oversees and project manages every job as well as picking up a paint brush or wallpaper roller.

The National Trust certainly do, they entrust Decorare with the decoration of some of their most prized properties. A trust earned through years of treating these properties with the respect and close attention they deserve.

Well the team will be able to advise you on the best approach to the wood or ironwork of your property, making full use of all the materials the modern world has to offer. Expensive replacement of sills and window frames isn’t always the answer, all of the Decorare staff are fully trained in and registered contractors for Repair Care.

“We have expertise in all aspects of decorating older properties both internally and externally. We appreciate the individual personality of each property and we carefully adapt our approach to
provide a tailor-made solution to the task in hand.”adds Tim

Commercial properties are treated in exactly the same way that they treat the domestic environment. With respect.

Decorare understand that it’s your place of work and that disruption should be kept to an absolute minimum. You want quality, punctuality and a company that sticks to it’s estimates. So that’s what you get. Along with the finest decorators and materials for your job.

The company is fully insured and meet all health and safety standards and will provide full risk assessment and method statements.

Some of Decorare’s work is also on new build and renovation.

A Quantity Surveyor will compile Decorare’s estimates and their customers will have direct access to senior management at all stages of the project.

Plans and needs can change during a job, which is why Decorare will work around last minute hitches and still aim to deliver their normal high quality finish.

Decorare are happy to work with other trades on site to help meet the project deadlines.
